RoDTEP Committee headed by GK Pillai visits Sri City

Sri City, February 22,2022: The committee for determination of ‘Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products’ (RoDTEP), headed by Mr. G.K. Pillai, IAS (Retired), former Union Home and Commerce Secretary, visited Sri City on Tuesday. Mr. Y.G. Parande, special secretary-cum-member, CBEC (retired) and Mr. Gautam Ray, chief commissioner of customs and central excise (retired), who are the members of the committee, and Mr. Hassan Ahmed, Under Secretary, Ministry of Fnance, and Mr. Praveen Kumar, Dy. DGFT were also present. They had an interactive session with the senior managers of the manufacturing companies in Sri City SEZ and DTZ.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Pillai reminisced his earlier visits to Sri City and appreciated the growth achieved in a short span. He said that the committee seeks the views of exporting industries for determining RoDTEP rates for exports by taking into consideration the incidence of duties/taxes/levies on exports and other relevant factors as deemed fit. He requested the companies to give inputs in the specified format pertaining to the cost components of their products, so as to facilitate reimbursement of taxes and duties incurred.

Mr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director, Sri City extended the committee a warm welcome and thanked the members for interacting with the manufacturers. He appealed to the representatives of the companies to give required inputs and seek clarifications for all the queries pertaining to reimbursement of taxes and duties incurred. He requested the Chairman of the Committee to arrange a webinar on the subject, so that the companies can better understand the input formats and other provisions.

The Ministry of Commerce has constituted the committee for determination of RoDTEP rates for AA (advance authorisation)/ EOU/ SEZ exports, and to give supplementary report/ recommendations on issues relating to errors or anomalies, with respect to the RoDTEP schedule of rates notified. Exporting Industries were requested to submit their representations to the committee for determining refund of various central and state duties, taxes, and levies imposed on input products at various levels, among others.
