Sri City, August 07, 2020:- Mr. Buggana Rajendranath Reddy, Hon’ble Minister for Finance & Planning, Legislative Affairs, Andhra Pradesh, paid a visit to Sri City on Friday afternoon. The purpose of his visit was to discuss with the CEOs and the Senior Managers about the proposed skill development University and seek inputs. The Minister was accompanied by Mr. Shamsher Singh Rawat, IAS, Principal Secretary (Finance), Govt.of AP, Dr. Arja Srikanth, IRTS MD & CEO, APSSDC and Special Secretary to Govt.of AP, Dr. Narayana Bharath Gupta, IAS, Collector & District Magistrate, Chittoor. Mr. Koneti Adimulam, MLA, Sathyavedu was also present.
Welcoming the distinguished guests, Mr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director, Sri City said, “We consider it as a great honour and privilege to have the minister, the MLA and other senior officers here. Their visit reflects the strong will and seriousness of the government on skill development and creation of better employment opportunities for the youth in the state. We whole heartedly extend our support to the government in making the skill development initiative a grand success.”
Addressing the gathering of the CEOs and Senior Managers, Mr. Rajendranath Reddy appreciated the growth of Sri City and said, “ It is one of the successful and most efficiently managed business cities in the country, and it is our duty to support it in all respects.”
Briefing on the intent his visit the minister said that for bridging the gap between the students skills and industry needs the government took up an active programme of setting up skill development centres in the state. For providing special skills to students, he mentioned that the industry-government partnership will certainly yield better results. He requested the participants to give inputs in the form of brief reports regarding the specific needs of manpower and the required skills, so that the government initiative can take shape on a sustainable model.
Mr. Rawat and Dr. Srikanth also addressed the gathering and mentioned that the government wants to set up the skill development centres and a university on a sustainable model with the partnership from Industry, and sought the cooperation of the industrial units in strengthening the curriculum.
The representatives of the industrial units opined that students have good knowledge, but lack skills. Industry looks for employable students, who can be trained and oriented to their needs with a brief in-plant training. They said that industry requires special skills in welding, and advised that the curriculum need to be strengthened right from ITI level to the engineering level.
The Minister and his entourage went round the industrial park and visited the factory and the training centre of Thermax company. Later the visited IIIT.
Mr. Pratap Reddy, General Manager, District Industrial Centre, Chittoor and the District Skill Development incharge officers of Chittoor and Nellore Mr. Syam Mohan and Mr. Ghaum were present during the meeting.
Sri City Job Portal launched
Mr. Mr. Rajendranath Reddy launched Sri City’s new online portal (www.sricityjobs.in) providing single window facility for job seekers and employers.
Briefing on the portal Mr. Ravindra Sannareddy said,”We have developed this portal to serve as an online recruitment platform that helps companies find right candidates, and aims to provide job seekers with a smarter and faster way to find the right opportunities. We hope, the unemployed in this region will find it handy.”
Appreciating the proactive initiatives of Sri City, the Minister expressed a hope that Jobseekers, henceforth, can directly search for job opportunities in Sri City suiting their skills by browsing the portal online.
The portal features job vacancies in Sri City units. Candidates looking for apprenticeship programme, internship, employment can register in this portal and upload their resume. Industrial units will be able to see the uploaded resume. As the portal shows the level of skill relevance to jobs, even those now employed can see areas where they can get better opportunities. Also, it includes ‘Frequently Asked Queries & Answers’, that clarify the general doubts of users. Gradually more features would be added to the portal to make it more friendly to industry and entrepreneurs.”
