A nine member team of Senior Professors from the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT-M) and the IIT-Tirupati visited Sri City on Tuesday. Prof. K.N. Satyanarayana, Director, IIT-T and Dr. Krishnan Balasubramanian, Dean, Centre for Industrial Consultancy & Sponsored Research (IC & SR), IIT-M have led the team. Mr. Ramesh Subramaniam, President, Sri City Foundation received them and briefed about the salient features of Sri City and the progress achieved.
They met Mr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director and briefed about the purpose of their visit. Prof. Satyanarayana said that they propose to have frequent and effective interaction with industry, through which the Industry and the institute get benefited with cross flow of knowledge and sought Sri City’s assistance in this regard.
Assuring all assistance from Sri City Mr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director, Sri City offered office space in the incubation centre and said,”Synergy between industry and institutes can be established by sharing and nurturing needs and ideas among all the stakeholders, viz students, faculty and industry experts.” “Such collaboration help in updating the knowledge of students in line with the latest industry developments and bridge the gap between the Academia and Industry,” he added.
The team went round mega industrial park and visited VRV, Foxconn, Alstom and Daniele industries. They interacted with the senior managers of the respective companies.
Both the IITs jointly propose to set up a centre at Sri City and offer professional consultancy & short term training courses to industries in specific areas of mutual interest, initiate joint research programmes & field studies by faculty and people from industries, short-term assignment to faculty members in industries, practical training for students in industries, etc.,
