ADB Vice-President visits Sri City

Sri City, July 20, 2018:- As a part of his two days visit to Andhra Pradesh, Dr. Wencai Zhang, Vice-President-1, Asian Development Bank (ADB), accompanied by a team of senior officials of the bank visited Sri City on Friday. Mr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director, Sri City extended a warm welcome.  Briefing them on the infrastructure and the unique features of the industrial park, he said, ”Sri City is an example of a world-class urban development attracting foreign investment in manufacturing.”

Impressed with the infrastructure facilities in Sri City, Dr. Zhang said,”I hope ADB’s support to Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor (VCIC) will help further the investment climate in this region.”

He had a an interactive meeting with the senior managers of some of the industrial units of Sri City, viz. Foxconn, ZTT, Piolax, Lerri Solar.  While expressing satisfaction on the Sri City facilities, some of them mentioned that the roads that are used for commuting to Sri City are in very bad shape.   Responding on this Dr. Zhang mentioned that under the scope of VCIC, a comprehensive governance framework that supports the management and planning of the corridor’s zones and clusters,  will improve the infrastructure in the region.

Expressing happiness on ADB’s initiative for the node-based Industrial Development, which is aimed at facilitating industrial investments into Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Ravindra Sannareddy stated,”The partnership between AP government and ADB gives a big fillip to the economic growth of the state, particularly the backward areas of Chittoor-Nellore districts, as the Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor passes through.”

The entourage of Dr. Wencai Zhang included  Mr. Kenichi Yokoyama, Country Director, ADB, Mr. Chen Chen, Senior Advisor to the VP-1, Ms. Kavita Iyengar, Economist, Integrated Natural Resources Management Consultants (INRM), Mr. Rajesh Kumar Deol, Sr. External Relations Officer, INRM. Mr. Anil Kumar Reddy, GM, DIC, Chittoor, and  Mr. Madhusudhan, nodal officer, Industries Department coordinated the visit from State Government side.
