British Deputy High Commissioner visits Sri City

Sri City, October 22, 2019: Dr. Andrew Fleming, British Deputy High Commissioner, Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, accompanied by a team of senior officials visited Sri City on Tuesday. Mr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director, Sri City extended a warm welcome, and briefed them on the infrastructure, unique features such as sustainability, green efforts, etc., and the brisk pace of development in Sri City.

Commenting on the visit Mr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director, Sri City said,”As the 6th largest economy in the world and as the most improved country on the World Bank Ease of Doing Business Index, India is now firmly placed as a very attractive investment destination. The UK being the single largest European investor into India and particularly in Sri City, for several British companies, which are looking for investment opportunities in diverse sectors, it remains at the top of mind recall.”

“We feel honoured for the attention paid by Dr. Andrew Fleming and others in knowing more about Sri City. We are confident that their observations, which are very encouraging, would pave way for more business investments here from UK,” he added.

Impressed with its vastness, world-class infrastructure, and business friendly ambience, Dr. Fleming said that it was one of the most fulfilling experiences to have actually seen Sri City. Stating that it was the first visit from the British Deputy High Commission in Hyderabad that covers Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to Sri City in the last 3 years, Dr. Fleming told,”It’s impressive to know that 7 British companies are operating from here. Our visit was primarily to engage with them as part of UK government’s Department of International Trade wider agenda to promote UK businesses in India. These companies bring UK expertise to this part of the country, a classic example of UK-India business partnership, and I believe more UK companies will set up their operations here soon”.

In Sri City, as of now, the are seven companies from UK, viz., Bergen Pipes, CII/IMI! RN Photo Coatings, Healthium Medtech, MSR Garments, Rotolok Valves and MMD. The purpose of the visit was to see the business city in person and have the first hand knowledge of the progress achieved. During the interaction, the Deputy High Commissioner evinced keen interest and inquired on different aspects of Sri City. Following the briefing session, the team went round the industrial park and visited some of the production units of Healthium Medtech, MSR Garments, Rotolok Valves and MMD. Later, Mr. Fleming had a get together with the CHief Executive Officers of of the industrial units in Sri City.

The entourage of the Deputy High Commissioner included Mr. Varun Mali, Dy. Head of Mission & Head of Trade & Investment, Mr. Siddharth Vishwanathan, Head, Inward Investment, South India, Mr. Harsh Indrarun, Sr Trade Adviser, Life Sciences & Healthcare, Mrs. Nalini Raghuraman, Political Economy Adviser, Ms. Padmaja Konisetti, Head of Press & Communications, and Mrs. Nidhi Srivastava, HR Officer.
