GoI nominates Sri City MD to SEZ Policy Committee

Sri City, June 6, 2018:- Vide an order issued on Monday, the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India nominated Mr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director, Sri City as a member of the committee constituted for studying the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) policy in the country.

The fifteen member committee, headed by Mr.  Baba Kalyani, Chairman, Bharat Forge has eminent persons from the Indian Industry and also the Principle Secretaries of Industries from different state governments, including Andhra Pradesh.

As per the terms of reference,  the committee will evaluate the SEZ policy, suggest measures to cater to the needs of exporters in the present economic scenario and make the SEZ policy WTO compatible, suggest course correction in SEZ policy, make comparative analysis of the SEZ scheme and dovetail the SEZ policy with other similar schemes. The committee is required to submit its recommendation in 3 Months’ time.

Under the stewardship of Mr. Ravindra Sannareddy Sri City emerged, just in less than 8 years, as one of the largest Integrated Business Cities in the country, comprising a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), a Domestic Tariff Zone (DTZ), Free Trade Ware housing Zone (FTWZ) and an Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC), all in its precincts. Now, it is home to over 170 globally known brands from 27 countries, including – Isuzu, Cadbury, PepsiCo, Alstom, Colgate Palmolive, Kobelco, Danieli, Kellogg’s and many more.
